2003 Hunter 456

location icon Oxnard, United States
Year 2003
Length 45 ft / 13.72 m
Builder/Manufacturer Hunter Marine
Price
$159,900

The Hunter Passage 456 is outstanding. Easy to single hand, great Sea Keeping (steadier than similar boats in all conditions.)

The B&R Rig is more rigid, lighter weight, safer; not only keeping the center of gravity lower, but also reducing mass concentrations above the deck (countering any pendulum effect.)  Jane Eyre is Cutter Rigged meaning a second forward stay for a third Stay Sail. This balances the sails, moves the center of effort forward making this the ideal boat for long days under sail. Perfect boat for a one sailor family with members who aren’t yet sure about sailing.

The comfort level is unsurpassed. The center cockpit can be completely enclosed, is secure and well above the water line. The folding helm wheel makes it easy to move around. The life lines have netting making it safer for pets and children. The side upholstered benches can sleep two people.

Below deck is spacious, plenty of light, many opening hatches, easy to ventilate. The ceilings are 7’. All lighting converted to LED.

Pioneer speakers in saloon, fore and aft cabins, Sony music system connects with any USB device.

The Aft Cabin is the largest most comfortable cabin on any sailboat under 55’. Walk around queen sized bed spring mattress, memory foam. Two articulated reading lights. Two hanging lockers, flat screen TV, Desk/make-up with leather upholstered love seat. Private entrance to the head. Separate bathtub/shower. 8 opening hatches and a 2’ x 2’ opening top hatch. Screens for all.

The forward cabin has a queen sized pullman berth, private head with shower. Hanging locker, drawers, plenty of storage.

Main Saloon has a large table that can be raised out of the way or lowered to make an additional queen sized berth. The wrap around couch, love seat and pull out are all leather upholstered. Hand rubbed teak everywhere.

New 42” LED TV on articulated wall mount, securely stows for sailing. Apple TV and Starlink. Internet and cellular connections any where in the world. (This Starlink was used in Vietnam, the Philippines, Japan and all the way across the north Pacific Ocean.)

The large U-shaped Galley is secure at sea, easy to prepare meals. Two independent very large top and front opening refrigerator/freezer units. Gimbled stove/oven. Microwave. Custom exhaust fan ventilates any cooking smells.

Double stainless steel sink, Corian countertops, full sets of Corel dish ware, and cutlery.

Jane Eyre has all the custom options for safety, comfort, crossing oceans. She’s been up and down the west coast, Mexico, to French Polynesia, New Zealand, Fiji. Larger diesel and water tanks, a watermaker, two independent sets of Raycor fuel filters. A Hydrovane, back up stick autopilot. Powerful -still state of the art- heat exchanger AC and Heating. Kohler 8kV generator to run them anywhere. (Generators are basically twice as efficient generating electricity as using the engine.)

This boat isn’t being sold to upgrade. There aren’t any upgrades.
