Originally designed as a fast cruiser or capable racing boat, close to 200 of these boats were US build in Marion, SC . As opposed to some of the newer performance boats from many builders, the 42s7 comes with a very attractive and functional interior designed by Philippe Stark. The pear wood and curved shapes, multiple opening ports and generous headroom gives the impression of a much larger boat. The oval salon table comfortably fits 6 for dinner in style 8 for less formal settings. The 42s7 is practical under way, at anchor and at the dock. Being a First series boat by Bruce Farr Yacht Design, they are a pure pleasure to sail and will perform very well in light air as well as gale conditions. The boat was outfitted for extensive cruising in 2009 and 2010 and have since cruised South from San Francisco to Panama, through the Canal, all over the Caribbean, across the Atlantic to Europe as far North as Norway and as far east as the Med. She was sailed back across the Atlantic for more Caribbean cruising before she was sailed back to San Francisco in March 2020 The boat has been immaculately maintained and shows as a much newer vessel. She was last hauled out for bottom paint paint KKMI in January 2023. There is a survey available from march 2021. Improvements include SSB with pactor modem, radar, wind and solar energy, flexible canvas package, good cruising sails, custom inner forestay with cutter sail, AGM batteries, new interior upholstery, new halyard and jib sheets. She had all her standing rigging and chainplates replaced in 2014. This is just a partial list of some of the upgrades done to the boat - look over the full specifications.
